Germany, Send Two Wisent 1 MC to Ukraine

Germany again sent aid in the form of Wisent 1 MC (Mine Clearing) armored vehicles to Ukraine.

This was informed by the German Ministry of Defense on 15 June 2023.

Previously, in March 2023, Germany had sent two units of the same mine-clearing vehicles to Ukraine.

The purpose of this transfer is to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces in their efforts to recapture its territory occupied by Russian forces.

The advance of the recent counterattack against the occupied territories was hampered by the large number of mines planted by the Russian troops.

This mine-clearing vehicle played a very important role in opening the way for the Cavalry troops and Ukrainian Infantry vehicles to attack Russian troop positions.

However, the Ukrainian military is constrained by the limited number of mine clearing vehicles it has.
Even in the counterattack, they had to lose the Leopard 2R mine clearing vehicle obtained from Finland.

Regarding the Wisent 1 MC, it is a multifunctional armored platform developed by the German company FFG based on the chassis of the Leopard 1 tank.

This vehicle is available in three variants including ARV (Armored Recovery Vehicle), AEG (Armored Engineer Vehicle), and MC (Mine Clearing) vehicles.

The Wisent 1 MC is equipped with a wide mine clearance system. Can effectively clear mines over a wide area, providing a wide and safe passage for friendly troops.

The vehicle is also equipped with a lane marking system that reduces the risk of accidents in mine-infested areas.

Then the Magnetic Signature Duplicator (MSD) device, designed to trigger magnetically fused mines.

The 44.5 ton vehicle is powered by a 700 kW diesel engine, has a maximum speed of 62 km/h and an operating range of around 375 km.
