Airbus Helicopters, Tested Firing of The Nexter NC 621 Weapons Pod On The H225M Caracal

Airbus Helicopters has conducted a qualifying firing test of the Nexter NC 621 weapons pod on the H225M Caracal helicopter.

The NC 621 pod contains the low-recoil M621 20 mm gun, suitable for integration in light aircraft and helicopters.

The M621 cannon can fire standard NATO 20×102 mm ammunition.

Its effective firing range is up to 2 km.

Another advantage of the NC 621 Pod is that it is very easy to operate and easy to maintain.

The first test firing of the H225M Caracal with the 20 mm NC 621 pod was carried out in April 2023.

The Nexter/Airbus Helicopters joint project follows decades of collaboration, including with the 30 mm turret on the Tiger attack helicopter.

About the H225M (formerly known as Eurocopter EC725) Caracal is a military variant of the multi-purpose transport helicopter developed on the basis of the AS532 Cougar .

This twin-engine helicopter can carry up to 28 troops and is manned by a crew of two (pilot and copilot).

Helicopters can be used for troop transportation and logistics, casualty evacuation, and combat search and rescue (CSAR) tasks.
